Nacho Vigalondo makes the world safe for sleep!

Public Service Announcements. Who in the world could ever get excited about a PSA? Magnificent Bastard can, if it’s this cool!

That’s right, Nacho Vigalondo, genius film maker from Spain, is so talented he can even make a PSA that’s fun and quirky.

The first few times I watched this, I had no idea what it was or what it was for – because I don’t speak Spanish. Thankfully, one of our associate CyberMonkeys, Antonio Quintero, was kind enough to do a rough translation of the ad for those of us who are not multi-lingual in the Spanish department. It turns out that the video is a plea for a little bit of quiet . . . so that people can sleep. I don’t know if I’m really down with that (I’m probably the guy making too much noise at 3 am), but it’s funny nonetheless.

Be sure to give Antonio a shout out and a big thank you when you see him at the Doctor Infierno screening coming up April 29, 2009! I know he’ll be there.

And now, here’s Nacho!

And the translation, for those of you who just HAVE to know what he’s saying.

It is 3′ in the morning
3:26 to be exact and here I am
Awake! Chewing on my pillow
Is a not problem with love
Neither money, Stress, Nothings pain me, and I haven’t had any coffee
Is that drilling fanatic
What will be today?
Another Portrait, another sofa, another sofa
Or is the Washer/Dryer on the fifth
That Washes, cleans, spins, sings and dances.
Come On!!!!
The kid in the bike who’s become addicted to my neighborhood
The upstairs party, which of course I was not invited
Give peace a chance!
The dog in the yard
What does he think he is going to get with all that barking Puppy it doesn’t work that way?
Please calm down
Or is it the couple upstairs, what racket
Too bad love doesn’t last forever
Why do you keep dragging that heavy chair in the middle of the night?
Why do you keep me awake?
And not the lady who sleeps with her TV at high volume
The heavy who screams hits from yesterday and before yesterday
The crying refrigerator, the coughing microwave,
The alarm that turns on at he wrong time,
The sink which sound like it has a cat stuck on it,
The blender, the parrot, the clarinet, the alarm clock, the radio, screaming people, the phone, the high heel shoes.

Noise prevents many people from going to sleep.

Respect the sleep of your neighbors.

Noise prevents many people from going to sleep.

Respect the sleep of your neighbors.

In order not to break with the great film tradition of watching Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th, I figured we'd take a little stroll through the canon and make it a little easier to choose tonight's smorgasbord of slaughter.
The Colony
The Colony delivers on a conversation basis and has a tremendously engaging premise that makes the show compulsively watchable just to see what the colonists will do next and what you'd do differently.
