Fuck the Oscars. Vote with us!
lady lascivious sez:
Ah, it’s that time of year again: The End. A time where we’re apt to look back at the last 365 days and take stock of all that we’ve come through. And for many, it marks the beginning of the dreaded…*bum bum BUUUUM*…Awards Season! While we monkeys are by nature judges and categorizers, we generally eschew the more mainstream means of awarding creators and have instead birthed our own set of awards to present to those we deem worthy.
And unlike some of the more exclusive and elitist awards panels, we’re giving you the reader the chance to cast your vote as well! Because deep down, underneath all the ridicule and tongue-lashings, we really do like you guys. So check out the following categories and weigh in with your votes soon!
Technical Jargon: “This year” includes US films released between January 1 and December 31 2008, and foreign films with releases between January 1 and December 31 in either their home country or the US. (Example: if a film was released in Japan in October 2007, but released in the US in February 2008, count it.) Votes will be tallied at 5:00pm US Central Time on December 31. Here’s a list to get your brain going: Wikipedia’s list of 2008 films.
